Who We Are

Epiphany Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, located in Westfield, Indiana. Epiphany strives to fufill the following: meeting the spiritual needs of individuals and families by strengthening their relationship with God, preaching God's word faithfully, growing in faith and understanding through group study and reflection upon the Holy Bible, worshiping together and celebrating the presence and grace of God through Word and Sacraments, teaching salvation by grace alone thhrough faith in Jesus Christ alone, speaking God's truth in love to others, and reaching out with the love of the Gospel by serving others in the Name of Christ.

What We Believe

With the universal Christian Church, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God: the Father, creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ, the Son, who became man to suffer and die for the sins of all mankind and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan, and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God's Word and the Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.

As an LCMS congregation, we accept and teach the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the Protestant Reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th Century. The foundational theological principles are as follows:

Sola Scriptura

The Bible is God's inspired and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.

Sola Fide

By His suffering and death, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness for all people of all time. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have eternal life in Him. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him.

Sola Gratia

God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him, and do not deserve His love. He sent His Son to love the unlovable and save the ungodly.

Solus Christus

Jesus Christ is the only Mediator between God and humanity. As such, salvation is accomplished exclusively through His sacrificial death and resurrection.

Soli Deo Gloria

Since salvation is entirely the work of God, all praise, honor, and glory belong solely to Him.
